‘The Courteeners put on a hell of a show at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena’

What could only be described as my favorite gig I’ve ever been to, I wasn’t expecting for The Courteeners to put on a show like this. When I arrived at the venue the queues were massive, the show was practically sold out and I can see why however with all the security checks I was in the venue within minutes. I was gutted that I missed the first support act ‘Zuzu’ due to work commitments however I had friends who attended, and they said she was incredible. The second support act of the evening was the cracking Gerry Cinnamon. Entering the stage with his guitar in hand the crowds were raring for him. With no record label backing him, he has managed to achieve amazing success and it’s safe to say he’s one of Scotland’s most successful independent artists.  His set featured fan favorites like ‘Sometimes,’ ‘Belter,’ and ‘Lullaby.’ His set was incredible and in the crowd, many flares were lit. Gerry Cinnamon is back in Newcastle on the 22nd of March and I’m counting down the days!

The moment I’ve been waiting for all month… The Courteeners. Currently one of the best bands in the UK and known for drawing huge crowds at festivals like TRNSMT, I can honestly see why. Words can’t describe how happy I was to be able to see them. As soon as they entered the stage everyone was off their feet, everyone in seating was stood up and people started to get onto their friends’ shoulders in standing. As soon as they started to play ‘Are You In Love With a Notion?’ at least 8 flares/smoke bombs were lit, sending colorful smoke into the arena. The night has made my year! Adding to the set Liam Fray played an acoustic set of three songs: ‘Please Don’t,’ ‘Hanging Off Your Cloud’, and ‘Smiths Disco’ which sounded incredible which showed his talent.

With the night coming to a close Fray goes to the crowd ‘Get your phones out as this is the one you all love’ and the intro to their most famous song ‘Not Nineteen Forever.’ I have to say it was a spectacle watching the crowd go insane. All in all, it was a great night and I can’t recommend The Courteeners enough!!!
