Design and Build

The Yamaha HS5 and Yamaha HS8 are part of the second-generation nearfield reference monitors. These two monitor speakers come in just two colors which are black and white. The Yamaha HS5 is designed with a single-unit woofer that is mountable with stereo output. 

It is the smallest unit in the HS series with a 5-inch speaker which measures 7 x 9 x 12 inches and weighs 12 lbs. Its cone woofer measures 5 inches with a dome tweeter measure that measures 1 inch, it creates a very smooth response over different sound frequencies. 

The Yamaha HS8 is also a single-unit woofer that is easy to mount and has a stereo output. It measures 16 x 14.2 x 21inches and weighs much heavier than the HS5 at 29.1 pounds, it also has screws and mounting points to ensure the installation is much easier.
